DuraTAC® LC/ST cables are most economical but connectors are fragile and provide poor protection against contamination when deployed without their tiny plastic dust covers in place. LC connectors are plastic and easily damaged. ST connector bodies are metal and more durable, but like LC connectors, their fragile fiber tips remain exposed to contamination and damage when deployed without their tiny easily lost protective dust covers in place. Additionally, LC and ST cables must be terminated with smaller diameter breakouts. LC and ST connectors are typically used with cables for permanent installations and not recommended for repeat deployment and re-deployment.
