TFS stainless-steel armored DuraTAC® LC/ST cables are most economical but the connectors are fragile and provide poor protection against contamination when deployed without their tiny plastic dust covers in place. LC connector bodies are lightweight plastic and easily damaged. ST connector bodies are metal and more durable, but the fragile fiber tips remain exposed to contamination and damage especially when deployed without their small protective dust covers. Additionally, LC and ST break-outs are assembled with small diameter furcation tubing less durable than the main cable. Fiber optic cables terminated with LC and ST connectors were originally designed for permanent installation in buildings and IT applications.
TFS stainless-steel armored DuraTAC® BullEye IP67 waterproof LC cables offer much better protection against contamination and damage than cables terminated with LC or ST connectors. The Duplex LC connector is installed within a aluminum water-proof housing with screw-on aluminum dust cover, protecting the fragile LC fiber tips during deployment. However, the fragile fiber tips can still be damaged when a cable is deployed without the dust cover in place. They are a good choice for harsh environment applications in military, oil and gas, broadcast, cell-phone/antenna towers and trunk IT cable requirements.
TFS stainless-steel armored DuraTAC® Magnum cables offer the very best choice for remote fiber transmission and repeat field deployment featuring a stainless-steel female connector that significantly prevents damage and contamination to the unexposed internal fiber tips. Magnum connectors and dust covers ensure durable, reliable and waterproof connections. They are ideal for harsh environments for military, oil and gas, broadcast, cellphone/antenna towers and IT trunk cable requirements.
