FIBER OPTIC CABLE REPAIR & RE-TERMINATION SERVICES
Tactical Fiber Systems provides professional repair, re-termination, inspection, and testing services for tactical and commercial fiber optic cable assemblies used in demanding field environments.
Tactical fiber assemblies are designed to withstand repeated deployment, retrieval, transportation, and exposure to harsh operating conditions. Even the most rugged assemblies, however, can eventually suffer damage from crushing, excessive pulling, contamination, damaged connectors, broken fibers, or normal field wear.
Before replacing an expensive tactical fiber optic cable assembly, let our technicians evaluate it for repair.
Our repair department has the equipment and technical capability to diagnose fiber failures, replace damaged components, re-terminate fiber optic connectors, and verify optical performance before the assembly is returned to service.
PROFESSIONAL FIBER OPTIC DIAGNOSTICS
Every repair begins with a detailed evaluation of the cable assembly and its connectors. Our technicians use professional fiber optic test equipment to identify faults and determine the most appropriate repair procedure.
Testing equipment includes:
-
Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDR)
-
Optical power meters
-
Stabilized optical light sources
-
Visual Fault Locators (VFL)
-
Fiber optic inspection microscopes
-
Precision fiber cleaving and termination equipment
OTDR testing allows our technicians to locate fiber breaks, high-loss events, damaged termination points, and other faults along the cable assembly. Optical power and insertion-loss testing are then used to evaluate overall optical performance.
PRECISION CONNECTOR RE-TERMINATION
When connector replacement or re-termination is required, the damaged termination is removed and the fiber is carefully prepared using professional fiber termination procedures.
Depending on the cable construction and connector system, the process may include precision stripping, cleaning, cleaving, epoxy preparation, connector installation, controlled curing, polishing, and microscopic end-face inspection.
Connector end faces are inspected for cleanliness, scratches, chips, improper polish, and other defects that can adversely affect optical transmission.
Our technicians can service a wide range of fiber optic assemblies, including ruggedized and tactical cable configurations, single-mode and multimode fiber, multi-fiber assemblies, and commonly used commercial and military-style fiber optic connector systems.
TESTED BEFORE IT LEAVES OUR FACILITY
Repair is only part of the process.
Following re-termination, repaired assemblies undergo optical testing to verify continuity and insertion-loss performance at the appropriate operating wavelength. OTDR testing may also be performed when required by the application or customer specification.
This final testing provides confidence that the repaired assembly has been properly terminated and is performing as expected before it is returned to the customer.
REPAIR INSTEAD OF REPLACE
Long tactical fiber assemblies and specialized multi-channel cables can represent a substantial investment. A damaged connector or localized fiber failure does not necessarily mean that the entire assembly needs to be replaced.
Professional repair and re-termination can often restore a valuable cable assembly at a fraction of the cost of purchasing a new one.
For organizations maintaining large inventories of tactical fiber cable, professional repair can also reduce equipment replacement costs, extend the service life of existing assets, and help keep critical fiber infrastructure operational.
RAPID TURNAROUND FOR CRITICAL APPLICATIONS
We understand that damaged fiber optic cables can mean unavailable equipment and operational downtime.
Tactical Fiber Systems offers responsive repair evaluation and efficient turnaround for customers who need critical cable assemblies returned to service as quickly as practical. Contact us regarding expedited repair requirements or multiple-cable repair programs.
SEND US YOUR DAMAGED FIBER ASSEMBLY
Whether you have a damaged connector, intermittent fiber, excessive optical loss, or a tactical cable assembly that has failed in the field, our technicians can evaluate the assembly and recommend the appropriate repair.
Don't discard an expensive tactical fiber cable because of a damaged termination or localized failure.
Contact Tactical Fiber Systems for a repair evaluation and let our fiber technicians determine whether your cable can be professionally repaired, re-terminated, tested, and returned to service. Call 877-777-7147 to receive an complete estimate.
